Shady Lane Elementary School

School planning and design is one of the most collaborative efforts a community will undertake. For the Shady Lane Elementary School, Davis Wince coordinated and led multiple user groups including Columbus Public School representatives, faculty members, parents, students, and additional community members through the design/build process.

Davis Wince provided full design, documentation, and construction administration services for this new elementary school. The 45,000 sf school was designed to within 5 sf overall tolerance, and within tighter tolerances for each individual area of the building. Efficient planning and thorough construction documents resulted in cost effective construction bidding. The cost savings allowed Columbus Public Schools to accept a masonry alternative for the outside finish, which was the first time during the School System’s modernization program they had been able to do so.
