The District on West Green Renovation

Ohio University

Driven by student input, the renovation of Boyd Hall created a new wildly different residential dining environment and retail space on the Ohio University West Green campus.

Determined to draw students to the West Green and be a destination dining experience, the new District on West Green (formerly Boyd Dining Hall) offers healthy, fresh dining options including gluten-free menu choices. With influences from restaurant, fast-casual, and quick-service production, three vastly different food styles will be prepared and enjoyed in a dining room designed to promote interaction through flexibility, a variety of seating, and community tables. The retail space was reconfigured to improve access, circulation, and the promotion of healthy eating through product placement and the inclusion of a “vegetable butcher”.

With a goal to more than double retail sales, the project also includes building organization, serving concepts, back-of-house kitchen support and upgraded equipment and furniture.

This renovation is tracking to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
