MC Fitness & Health
Lewis Center, Ohio
To meet the healthcare needs of one of Central Ohio’s fastest growing counties, Mount Carmel teamed with healthcare developer Nexcore of Denver, Colorado to provide an integrated medical fitness and ambulatory campus in Delaware, Ohio. MC Fitness & Health opened in January 2016. The goal from the onset was to design a setting to support the physical, dietary, educational and mental needs of patients, to create a better patient experience and outcome as a primary focus. The Integrated Facilities approach drives changes in both the physical layout of the building as well as the business model under which physicians practice.
The Integrated Medical Fitness Center design solution incorporates the integrated care approach directly into the functional flow of the facility. Diverse diagnostic and treatment areas of care share support and are physically linked as one. The care also flows into dedicated areas for rehabilitation and maintenance (fitness) completing the full continuum for complete integrated care. The difference in an integrated fitness center and a traditional clinic is the dismantling of departments or silos, removing barriers to the team delivered continuum of care and building excitement for wellness with the patient. We combine and share elements within the facilities, eliminating duplicity at every opportunity in an effort to support an interdisciplinary team care model.
The design solution is engaging, efficient, and the design facilitates team-based care. The mixed occupancy of the facility allows for easy accommodation of additional medical needs under a one stop shop scenario.
